Travel Details
There are several ways to reach Montrichard and we have tried most of them!
Driving (Approximately 6 hours from Calais) - This is our preferred way

- From Calais use the motorway to Rouen (A16>A28).
- Before Rouen you can take the N15 which goes to the South of the city (avoiding the centre) or follow signs to A13 (Paris).
- Once on the A13 to Paris, follow signs to Evreux (A154>N154), Dreux (N154>N12), Chartres (N154), Chateaudun (N10) and Blois (D924).
- On reaching Blois follow signs for Angers (away from the Toutes routes signs) which guides you around the West of the town on dual carriageway through various estates.
- Eventually Angers will veer off to the right, now follow signs to Tours.
- As you come down to the river Loire you come to a set of traffic lights.
There are now two alternatives:
- Go straight over the bridge and turn right to Montrichard (D751>D764).
- Turn right at the lights towards Tours and follow the N152 to Onzain. Turn left over the River Loire into Chaumont sur Loire. Turn right into the village and left to Montrichard at the traffic lights (D114>D139>D62).
Both routes converge at the Foret de Montrichard and as you approach Montrichard you are on Rue de Blois. Our house is on the left hand side about 50m before the railway bridge.
Use the junction by the railway bridge as a convenient place to turn round so that you are on the correct side of the road to pull up.
Other routes include the A1 motorway, which goes via Paris, but it is very busy! or via ports such as Caen.
Flying

Tours is the nearest airport to the villa. Our experience is that Ryanair are the best from Stansted.
Alternatively, there are cheap flights with many airlines to Paris, where it is possible to complete the journey by car which is available at both airports.
Train
Helpful Websites: Eurostar , TGV
Those who prefer to travel by train can take the Eurostar from Waterloo or Ashford. Change for the TGV (high speed train) to Tours at Lille (just swap platforms) or Paris (short trip from the Gare du Nord to Montparnasse on the Metro).
The TGV station at Tours is St. Pierre des Corps, which is just to the East of the town. All trains for Montrichard, from the Central train station in Tours, stop here.
How to reach 36 Rue de Blois on foot from the station in Montrichard (approximately 800m)
- With your back to the main ticket hall turn left and walk down the street.
- Go straight across the crossroads walking down the right hand side of the cemetery.
- At the next junction turn left (you are now on Rue de Blois) about 50m after you have crossed over the railway bridge the property will be on your right hand side.
